พระพุทธรูปปางทรงโปรดช้างนาฬาคีรี Taming the Wild Elephant Nalagiri Posture ช้างนาฬาคีรีตัวตกมันกำลังบ้าคลั่ง ถูกปล่อยตามคำสั่งของพระเทวทัต มุ่งหน้าไปยังพระพุทธเจ้าขณะกำลังเสด็จบิณฑบาตในนครราชคฤห์ พระอานนท์พุทธอุปัฎฐาก ยอมสละชีวิตเข้าไปขวางเอาไว้ แต่ช้างนาฬาคีรีก็สิ้นพยศด้วยอำนาจพระเมตตาของพระพุทธเจ้า พระพุทธองค์ตรัสสอนช้างนาฬาคีรีให้มีศีล งดเว้นจากการเบียดเบียนผู้อื่นเป็นต้น เพื่อที่จะได้ไปเกิดในภพที่ดีกว่านี้ Nalagiri Elephant was in bad mood. It was released by the order of Devadatta and was intended to harm the Lord Buddha while he was taking alms from people in Rajagaha. Ananda, the loyal attendant of the Lord Buddha sacrificed his life to protect the Lord Buddha. But Nalagiri Elephant was finally tamed with the mercy of the Lord Buddha. He also taught the elephant to observe the live precepts and do no harm to other people, so that the elephant can be reborn in a better state of being.
