A handful of Simsapa Leaves Posture

สมัยหนึ่งพระพุทธเจ้าประทับ ณ ป่าไม้ประดู่ลาย ใกล้กรุงโกสัมพี ครั้งนั้นทรงหยิบใบไม้ประดู่ลายขึ้นมาหน่อยหนึ่ง ตรัสกับภิกษุทั้งหลายที่ประชุมกัน ณ ที่นั้นความว่า "ใบไม้ในมือของเราน้อยนิดเมื่อเทียบใบไม้บนต้นไม้ในป่าใหญ่ เช่นเดียวกับเรื่องที่เราบอกสอนพวกเธอก็น้อยนิดเมื่อเทียบกับเรื่องที่เราได้ตรัสรู้ ทั้งนี้เพราะเราได้มุ่งสอนแต่เรื่องทุกข์ เหตุให้เกิดทุกข์ ความดับทุกข์ หนทางแห่งดับทุกข์เท่านั้น และเรื่องที่สอนล้วนมีจุดหมายเพื่อคลายความกำหนัด โลภ โกรธ หลง เพื่อความสงบ และนิพพาน

While the Lord Buddha was staying at Simpasa forest near Kosambi, he grasped a handful of Simsapa leaves and said to the monk assembly that "This leaves in my hand are so little amount comparing to leaves of tree in the forest. This is like the teachings that I've taught which are just a small portion of what I've attained. This is because I teach only about sufferings, cause of sufferings, cessation of sufferings, and the way leading to the cessation of sufferings. What I've taught is aim at releasing from lust, greed, anger and passion so one can achieve the profoud knowledge and reach nirvana.
