ในคราวที่พระพุทธเจ้าเสด็จกรุงกบิลพัสดุ์ครั้งแรก หลังจากได้ธรรมตรัสเวสสันดรชาดกแก่พระประยูรญาติแล้ว ไม่มีใครทูลนิมนต์พระพุทธเจ้าให้รับภัตตาหารเช้าเลย โดยพากันเข้าใจเอาเองว่า เมื่อพระองค์เสด็จถึงเรือนพระบิดาแล้ว คงจะไม่ไปเสวยที่ไหน ดังนั้น ในวันรุ่งขึ้นพระพุทธองค์จึงเสด็จไปบิณฑบาตในพระนครเพื่อรับอาหารจากประชาชนทั่วไป ดังเช่นพระพุทธเจ้าในอดีตได้กระทำมา

At the first time the Lord Buddha went to Kapilavastu, no one asked him to have breakfast after teaching dhamma -Wetsandornchadok to his relatives. Everyone thought that the Lord Buddha stayed at his father's house and would not have had food from any other places. Next morning, the Lord Buddha went to take alms around the city like other Buddha did in the past.
