Buddha Preaching to his Father Posture

สมัยเมื่อพระพุทธเจ้าเสด็จกรุงกบิลพัสดุ์ครั้งแรก และเสด็จบิณฑบาตรในพระนคร พระเจ้าสุทโธทนะทรงทราบจึงรีบเสด็จตามไปต่อว่าพระพุทธองค์ ว่าทำให้พระบิดาได้รับความอับอายที่เป็นถึงโอรสกษัตริย์ของเมืองนี้ยังเดินบิณบาตรขอผู้อื่นเลี้ยงชีพด้วยเท้าเปล่า พระพุทธองค์ตรัสว่า มิได้ทำให้พระบิดาละอายแต่อย่างใด เพราะเป็นพุทธประเพณี พระพุทธเจ้าทั้งหลายในอดีตและที่จะมาตรัสรู้ในอนาคต ต่างก็ดำรงพระชนม์ชีพด้วยอาหารบิณฑบาต จากนั้นทรงแสดงธรรมแก่พระบิดาความว่า เป็นบรรพชิตไม่ว่าความประมาทในอาหารบิณฑบาต ผู้ประพฤติสุจริตธรรมย่อมประสพสุขทั้งในปัจจุบันและอนาคต

The first time the Lord Buddha went to Kapilavastu and took the alms around the city, King Suddhodana blamed him. He said that it was embarrassed that the Buddha who was a son of king took the alms around town, with bare feet. The Lord Buddha stated that he did not embarrass Father. This was the Buddhist's custom. All of the past Buddha who would become enlightened lived their lives with food offerings. Then, he taught his father the following dhamma. Being a monk shall respect alms giving. Those who did good deeds would find happiness at the present time and in the future.
