Blessing Posture - Sitting Position

เมื่อครั้งพระอานนท์ถูกสงฆ์เลือกให้ทำหน้าที่เป็นพุทธอุปัฎฐาก ท่านได้ขอพร 8 ประการกับพระพุทธเจ้า คือ 4 ข้อแรกมิให้พระองค์ประทานปัจจัย 4 ที่ประณีตแก่ท่าน รวมทั้งอย่าพาท่านไปในที่นิมนต์เพื่อป้องกันครหาว่า ท่านอัปัฎฐากเพื่อลาภสักการะ ส่วน 4 ข้อหลังนั้นได้แก่ ขอให้พระองค์ไปในที่ท่านรับไว้ ถ้าท่านนำพุทธบริษัทมาจากแดนไกล ขอให้ได้เข้าเฝ้าทันที ถ้าท่านมีความสงสัยคือ พระองค์ไปแสดงธรรมที่ไหน ถ้าท่านไม่ได้ฟัง ขอให้แสดงแก่ท่านอีกครั้งหนึ่ง ทั้งนี้เพื่อป้องกันครหาว่า ท่านอุปฎฐากแล้วไม่ได้รับความเอื้อเฟื้อจากพระพุทธองค์เลย พระพุทธองค์ได้ประทานพรทั้ง 4 ประการ

When Ananda was selected to be the loyal attendant, he had asked for eight blessings from the Lord Buddha. The first four blessing he asked the Lord Buddha not to offered him the neat four requisites and not to take hime to any places which the Buddha was invited to go as to prevent himself from being blamed that he wanted fortunes or worships. The remaining four blessing he asked the Lord Buddha would agree to join the religious rites that he promised to attend, had he taken any followers from faraway lands, he would grant them permission to see him in person, if he had any questions, the Lord Buddha would allow him to ask immediately; and if the Lord Buddha had preached anywhere without his presence, he would want to hear it again. The Lord Buddha granted him all the blessings.
