Stopping the Ocean Posture or Stopping the Relatives from Fighting Posture

สมัยหนึ่งพวกพระญาติของพระพุทธเจ้า คือ เจ้าศากยะและเจ้าโกลิยะเกิดทะเลาะวิวาทกันเพราะแย่งน้ำในแม่น้ำโรหิณี ต่างฝ่ายต่างอ้างกรรมสิทธิ์ในน้ำเพื่อที่จะได้ทำนาให้ได้ผลดี การทะเลาะดำเนินไปเรื่อย ๆ จนทั้งสองฝ่ายเตรียมการยุทธ์เผชิญหน้ากัน แต่ก่อนที่จะมีเหตุการณ์หลั่งเลือดในแม่น้ำโรหิณีนั้น พระพุทธเจ้าก็เสด็จไปปรากฎองค์ขึ้น ณ ที่นั้น ทรงซักถามถึงสาเหตุแล้วทรงเปรียบเทียบความเป็นมนุษย์ที่เป็นกษัตริย์กับน้ำว่า สิ่งไหนมีค่าควรแก่การรักษาทะนุถนอมมากกว่ากัน ทำให้ญาติทั้งสองฝ่ายได้สติเห็นคุณค่าของชีวิตมนุษย์นั้นสำคัญกว่า พระพุทธองค์จึงยุติการประหัตประหารกันเองของพระญาติได้สำเร็จ

Once, King Sakya and King Koliya argued for water in Rohini river. Both claimed their rights to have water for their rice fields. The argument continued until both sides prepared to have serious confrontation. Before a bloody situation would have happened in the river, the Lord Buddha came there to ask them for a reason. He stated that whether the King or water shall be kept. That enlightened his relative to realize more importance of human value. The Buddha successfully prevented the killings of his relatives.
