พระมหาบุรุษเสด็จลุกจากที่ประทับ ทรงถือเอาถาดข้าวมธุปายาสที่นางสุชาดาถวาย เสด็จไปยังริมแม่น้ำเนรัญชรา สรงน้ำ (อาบน้ำ) แล้วประทับนั่งใต้ร่มไทรริมฝั่งแม่น้ำ ทรงเริ่มต้นปั้นข้าวมธุปายาสออกเป็นปั้น ๆ รวมกันได้ 49 ปั้น แล้วเสวยจนหมด

The Great Man, holding Madhupavasa vessel from Sujata, raise from his seat and walked to Neranjara river. He then took a bath seated under a Banyan tree on the bank of the river. He divided Madhupayasa into 49 portions and then ate all of them.
