Receiving Madhupayasa Posture

นางสุชาดา ธิดาของคหบดีผู้หนึ่ง ในหมู่บ้านตำบลอุรุเวลาเสนานิคม ได้ถือเอาถาดทองคำบรรจุข้าวมธุปายาส ออกจากหมู่บ้านพร้อมด้วยบริวารจำนวนหนึ่งเพื่อจะแก้บนต่อรุกขเทวดาที่ต้นไทรใหญ่ ครั้นมาถึงแลเห็นพระมหาบุรุษ ซึ่งประทับนั่งใต้ร่มไทรนั้น เข้าใจว่าเป็นรุกขเทวดาจริง ๆ จึงนำข้าวมธุปายาสไปถวายพร้อมกับถาดทองคำ

Sujata was a daughter of a wealthy man from a village in Uruvela district. She left the village with her attendants, carrying a gold vessel with Madhupayas as an offering for gods of the Banyan tree. When she saw the Great Man sat under the Banyan tree, she believed that he was a Deva so she offered him Madhupayasa in the gold vessel.
