สันดุสิตเทพบุตร คือ พระเวสสันดร จากดุสิตสวรรค์ลงมาเกิด เพื่อโปรดเวไนยสัตว์ให้พ้นจากกิเลส คือ ราคะ โทสะ และโมหะ

เทพเจ้าทุกชั้นฟ้าชุมนุมกันอัญเชิญเทพบุตรโพธิสัตว์ให้จุติมาตรัสรู้เป็นพระพุทธเจ้า เมื่อพระเวสสันดรโพธิสัตว์สวรรคตแล้ว เสด็จไปอุบัติเป็นสันดุสิตเทพบุตรในสวรรค์ชั้นดุสิตเมื่อก่อนพุทธกาลเล็กน้อย เทวดาทุกสวรรค์ชั้นฟ้ามาประชุมปรึกษากันว่าใครจะมาตรัสรู้เป็นพระพุทธเจ้าก็ต้องเล็งว่า พระโพธิสัตว์สถิตอยู่ในชั้นดุสิตจะมาตรัสรู้เป็นพระพุทธเจ้า จึงพากันไปทูลอัญเชิญให้จุติ ลงมาโปรดสัตว์โลกเพื่อให้สมกับพระปณิธานที่ตั้งไว้ว่า ทรงบำเพ็ญบารมีมาในชาติใด ๆ ก็มิได้ทรงมุ่งหวังสมบัติอันใดนอกจากความเป็นพระพุทธเจ้า

Santusitthaputara who is Vessandon came from Dusit heaven. He was born to helping people are released from greed, hatred and delusion. All Gods went to see Bodhisatta Deva because they wanted to invite him who will be born and attain enlightenment to being the Lord Buddha. After Vessadon died, He became Sattusitthaputara and stayed in Dusit heaven before the prior to beginning of Buddhist era. All Devatas cam to assembly and talked about who will attain enlightment and being the Lord Buddha. Therefore, they asked Bodhisatta to be born in order to helping people and complete his aims that he desired to practice a great deal of perfection from the longest birth stories of Buddha by never expected in everything more than being the Lord Buddha.
